Pray for the Conversion of Non-Christians who are Hostile to Christianity

Intercession 5.4 | NIV

For the conviction and conversion of atheists, deists, and infidels, and of all who are out of the way of truth, and of profane scoffers and those who disgrace Christianity by their vicious and immoral lives.

O teach transgressors your ways, and let sinners turn back to you. Psalm 51:13(NIV)

O grant them repentance leading them to a knowledge of the truth, 2 Timothy 2:25(NIV) the truth as it is in Jesus, Ephesians 4:21(NIV) the truth that leads to godliness; Titus 1:1(NIV) that they may come to their senses and escape from the trap of the devil. 2 Timothy 2:26(NIV)

Let those who are like sheep going astray return to Jesus Christ, the Shepherd and Overseer of his people’s souls. 1 Peter 2:25(NIV)

Show those fools their folly and misery who have said in their hearts, “There is no God,” and who are corrupt and whose deeds are vile. Psalm 14:1(NIV)

Lord, maintain the honor of the Scriptures, the law and the testimony, and convince those who do not speak according to that word, that it is because they have no light of dawn. Isaiah 8:20(NIV) You have exalted above all things your name and your word; Psalm 138:2(NIV) magnify the law, magnify the gospel, and make both glorious. Isaiah 42:21(NIV)

Let those who will not be won by the word, be won over by the behavior of Christians, 1 Peter 3:1(NIV) which I beg may be such in everything that those who do not believe may be convinced by all and judged by all, may be brought to worship God, exclaiming that God is really among them. 1 Corinthians 14:24-25(NIV)

Pray for the Universal Church

Intercession 5.3 | NIV

For the universal church, wherever dispersed, and for all the interests of it.

My heart’s desire and prayer to God for the gospel-Israel is that it may be saved. Romans 10:1(NIV)

In your good pleasure make Zion prosper; build up the walls of Jerusalem. Psalm 51:18(NIV) May there be peace within her walls and security within her citadels. For the sake of my brothers and friends, I will say, “Peace be within her.” Psalm 122:7-8(NIV)

O that I may see the prosperity of the gospel-Jerusalem all the days of my life and peace upon Israel. Psalm 128:5-6(NIV) And that, thus, I may have reason to answer the envoys of the nations, saying, “The LORD has established Zion, and in her his afflicted people will find refuge.” Isaiah 14:32(NIV)

Save your people, O Lord, and bless your inheritance; be their shepherd and carry them forever. Psalm 28:9(NIV) Give strength to your people, and bless your people with peace; Psalm 29:11(NIV) surround them with your favor as with a shield. Psalm 5:12(NIV)

Grace to all who love the Lord Jesus Christ with an undying love; Ephesians 6:24(NIV) for you know those who are yours, and give to all who confess the name of the Lord to turn away from wickedness. 2 Timothy 2:19(NIV)

I pray for all who believe in Christ, that all of them may be one; John 17:20-21(NIV) and since there is one body and one Spirit and we have been called to one hope – one Lord, one faith, one baptism, and one God and Father of all, Ephesians 4:4-6(NIV) give to all Christians singleness of heart and action. Jeremiah 32:39(NIV)

Let the message of the Lord in all places spread rapidly and be honored. 2 Thessalonians 3:1(NIV)

Pray for Jewish Conversions, Churches Threatened by Islam, and Churches on the Mission Field

Intercession 5.2 | NIV

For the conversion of the Jews.

Let the branches which have been broken off not persist in unbelief, Romans 11:17(NIV) but be grafted in again into their own olive tree! And though Israel has experienced a hardening in part, yet let the full number of the Gentiles come in, and let all Israel be saved. Romans 11:23-26(NIV)

Let them be made to look on the one they have pierced; Zechariah 12:10(NIV) and that they turn to the Lord, let the veil which is upon their hearts be taken away. 2 Corinthians 3:15-16(NIV)

For all churches that are groaning under the yoke of Islamic tyranny.

Let the churches of Asia, that were golden lampstands, Revelation 1:11-12(NIV) which the Lord Jesus delighted to walk among, be made so again. Revelation 2:1(NIV)

Restore to them their liberties as in days of old and their privileges as at the beginning; thoroughly purge away their dross, and remove all their impurities, Isaiah 1:25-26(NIV) and restore their fortunes, like streams in the Negev. Psalm 126:4(NIV)

For the churches on the mission field.

Be the hope of all the ends of the earth and of the farthest seas; Psalm 65:5(NIV) and let your people have the blessing which came on the head of Joseph and on the brow of the one separated from his brothers, even to the bounty of the age-old hills. Genesis 49:26(NIV)

Create peace to those far and near. Isaiah 57:19(NIV)

And let those who feast on the abundance of the seas and on treasures hidden in the sand, summon peoples to the mountain, that they may offer sacrifices of righteousness. Deuteronomy 33:19(NIV)

Pray for the Propagation of the Gospel in Foreign Lands

Intercession 5.1 | NIV

For the propagating of the gospel in foreign parts and the enlargement of the church by the bringing in of many to it.

O let the good news be preached to all creation; Mark 16:15(NIV) for how can men believe in the one of whom they have not heard? And how can they hear without someone preaching to them? And how can they preach unless they are sent? Romans 10:14-15(NIV) And who can send out workers but the Lord of the harvest? Matthew 9:38(NIV)

Let the people living in darkness see a great light; on those living in the land of the shadow of death, let light dawn. Matthew 4:16(NIV)

Add to your church daily those who are being saved; Acts 2:47(NIV) enlarge the place of its tent, lengthen its cords, and strengthen its stakes. Isaiah 54:2(NIV)

Bring your children from the east and gather them from the west; say to the north, “Give them up!” And to the south, “Do not hold them back.” Bring your sons from afar and your daughters from the ends of the earth. Isaiah 43:5-6(NIV) Let them be accepted as offerings on your altar, and adorn your glorious temple; let them fly along like clouds, like doves to their nests. Isaiah 60:7-8(NIV)

In every place let incense and pure offerings be brought to your name; and from the rising to the setting of the sun, let your name be great among the nations, Malachi 1:11(NIV) and let the Gentiles become an offering acceptable to God, sanctified by the Holy Spirit. Romans 15:16(NIV)

O let the earth be full of the knowledge of the LORD as the waters cover the sea. Isaiah 11:9(NIV)

Introduction and Exhortation to Pray for the Whole Lost World of Mankind

Intercession 5.0 | NIV

The Lord Jesus has taught us to pray, not only with, but for others; and the apostle has appointed us to make supplication for all the saints, Ephesians 6:18(ESV) and many of his prayers in his epistles are for his friends. And we must not think that when we are in this part of prayer, we may let fall our fervency and be more indifferent because we ourselves are not immediately concerned in it; but rather, let a holy fire of love, both to God and man, here make our devotion yet more warm and lively.

We must pray for the whole world of mankind, the lost world; and thus, we must honor everyone, 1 Peter 2:17(ESV) and, according to our capacity, do good to everyone. Galatians 6:10(ESV)

I pray, as I am taught, for all men, believing that this is good and pleases God my Savior, who wants all men to be saved and to come to a knowledge of the truth and of Jesus Christ, 1 Timothy 2:3-4(NIV) who gave himself as a ransom for all men. 1 Timothy 2:6(NIV)

O look with compassion upon the world that is under the control of the evil one, 1 John 5:19(NIV) and let the prince of this world be driven out, John 12:31(NIV) who has blinded their minds. 2 Corinthians 4:4(NIV)

O let your ways be known on earth, Psalm 67:2(NIV) that barbarous nations may be civilized, and those who live without God in the world may be brought to the service of the living God; Ephesians 2:12(NIV) and thus, let your salvation be known among all nations. May the peoples praise you, O God; yes, may all the peoples praise you: May the nations be glad and sing for joy, for you rule the peoples justly and guide the nations of the earth. Psalm 67:2-4(NIV)

O let your salvation and your righteousness be revealed to the nations, and let all the ends of the earth see the salvation of God. Psalm 98:2-3(NIV)

O make the nations your Son’s inheritance, and the ends of the earth his possession; Psalm 2:8(NIV) for you have said, “It is too small a thing for him to restore the tribes of Jacob and bring back those of Israel I have kept”; but you will also make him a light for the Gentiles. Isaiah 49:6(NIV)

Let the kingdom of the world become the kingdom of the Lord and of his Christ. Revelation 11:15(NIV)

Thank God for the Performance of His Promises

Thanksgiving 4.41 | NIV

For the performance of God’s promises.

You have done good to your servant according to your word, O LORD; Psalm 119:65(NIV) and you have been ever mindful of your covenant, the word you commanded, for a thousand generations. Psalm 105:8(NIV)

Not one word has failed of all the good promises that you have promised to your servant David and your people Israel. 1 Kings 8:56(NIV)

And now, how can I repay the LORD for all his goodness to me? Psalm 116:12(NIV) Let my soul be at rest once more and repose in him as its rest, for he has been good to me: Psalm 116:7(NIV) I will lift up the cup of salvation and call on the name of the LORD. Psalm 116:13(NIV) For the LORD is good and his love endures forever; his faithfulness continues through all generations. Psalm 100:5(NIV)

I will extol the LORD at all times; yes, his praise will always be on my lips; Psalm 34:1(NIV) I will sing to the LORD as long as I live; Psalm 104:33(NIV) and I hope to be shortly with those blessed ones who dwell in his house above and are still praising him and who day and night never stop saying: “Holy, holy, holy is the Lord God Almighty.” Revelation 4:8(NIV)

Thank God for Support Under your Afflictions

Thanksgiving 4.40 | NIV

For support under my afflictions, and spiritual benefit and advantage by them.

You have comforted me in all my troubles, 2 Corinthians 1:4(NIV) have seen my affliction and known the anguish of my soul; Psalm 31:7(NIV) you have shown your wonderful love to me when I was in a besieged city. Psalm 31:21(NIV)

When afflictions have flowed into my life, comforts have much more overflowed. 2 Corinthians 1:5(NIV)

Though no affliction seems pleasant at the time, but painful; later on, however, it has produced a harvest of righteousness and peace, and has proved to be for my good, that I may share in your holiness. Hebrews 12:10-11(NIV)

I have had reason to say that it was good for me to be afflicted so that I might learn your commands; Psalm 119:71(NIV) for before I was afflicted I went astray, but afterwards I obeyed your word. Psalm 119:67(NIV)

It has been but for a little while that I may have had to suffer grief in all kinds of trials; and I beg that all the trials of my faith may result in praise, glory, and honor when Jesus Christ is revealed. Though I have not seen him, I love him; and even though I do not see him now, I believe in him and am filled with an inexpressible and glorious joy, and am longing to receive the goal of my faith, the salvation of my soul. 1 Peter 1:6-9(NIV)

Thank God for Gracious Answers to your Prayers

Thanksgiving 4.39 | NIV

For gracious answers to my prayers.

I have reason to love you, O LORD, because you have heard my cries for mercy; Psalm 130:2(NIV) and because you have turned your ear to me, I will call on you as long as I live. Psalm 116:1-2(NIV)

Out of the depths I have cried to you, O LORD, Psalm 130:1(NIV) and you have heard my vows and given me the heritage of those who fear your name. Psalm 61:5(NIV)

Indeed, before I have called, you have answered; while I have been still speaking, you have heard, Isaiah 65:24(NIV) and have said: Here am I. Isaiah 58:9(NIV) You have been near me whenever I pray to you. Deuteronomy 4:7(NIV)

You hear, O LORD, the desire of the afflicted; you encourage them, and you listen to their cry. Psalm 10:17(NIV)

Praise be to God, who has not rejected my prayer or withheld his love from me; Psalm 66:20(NIV) for I have prayed and have gone away, and my face has no longer been sad. 1 Samuel 1:18(NIV)

Thank God for Sweet Communion with Him in Holy Ordinances

Thanksgiving 4.38 | NIV

For sweet communion with God in holy ordinances, and the communications of his favor.

I have feasted on the abundance of your house; you have given me drink from your river of delights. For with you is the fountain of life; in your light I see light. Psalm 36:8-9(NIV)

You have brought me to your holy mountain and given me joy in your house of prayer; Isaiah 56:7(NIV) and I have found that for me it is good to be near God. Psalm 73:28(NIV)

I have reason to say that one day in your courts is better than a thousand elsewhere, and that I would rather be a doorkeeper in the house of my God than dwell in the tents of the wicked; for the LORD God is a sun and shield; he bestows favor and honor, and no good thing does he withhold from those whose walk is blameless: O LORD Almighty, blessed is the man who trusts in you. Psalm 84:10-12(NIV)

I have delighted to sit in your shade, and your fruit has been sweet to my taste; you have taken me to the banquet hall, and your banner over me has been love. Song of Solomon 2:3-4(NIV)

Thank God for the Powerful Influences of Divine Grace

Thanksgiving 4.37 | NIV

For the powerful influences of divine grace to sanctify and preserve me, to prevent my falling into sin, and to strengthen me in doing my duty.

You have not snuffed out the smoldering wick, nor broken the bruised reed, Matthew 12:20(NIV) nor despised the day of small things; Zechariah 4:10(NIV) but having had God’s help to this very day, I remain standing. Acts 26:22(NIV)

In the day when I called, you answered me; you have made me bold and stouthearted. Psalm 138:3(NIV)

I have always been with you; you have held me by my right hand, Psalm 73:23(NIV) when my feet had almost slipped, and I had nearly lost my foothold. Psalm 73:2(NIV)

I have reason never to forget your precepts, for by them you have preserved my life; and if your law had not been my delight, I would have many a time perished in my affliction; Psalm 119:92-93(NIV) for your decrees are the theme of my song wherever I lodge. Psalm 119:54(NIV)

Unless the Lord had given me help, I would soon have dwelt in the silence of death: But when I said, “My foot is slipping,” your love, O LORD, supported me; and when anxiety was great within me, your consolation brought joy to my soul. Psalm 94:17-19(NIV)
