Pray for the Grace of Self-Denial and Humility

Petition 3.22 | KJV

I must pray for the grace of self-denial.

Lord, give me grace to deny myself, to take up my cross daily, and to follow Christ, Matthew 16:24(KJV) to keep under the body and bring it into subjection. 1 Corinthians 9:27(KJV)

Lord, keep me from being a lover of my own self, 2 Timothy 3:2(KJV) from being wise in my own conceit and leaning to my own understanding. Proverbs 3:5(KJV)

Lord, give me to seek not my own only, but my brother’s welfare. 1 Corinthians 10:24(KJV)

And grant that I may not live to myself or die to myself, but whether I live or die, I may be the Lord’s, and may live and die to him. Romans 14:7-8(KJV)

I must pray for humility and meekness.

Lord, give me to learn of Christ to be meek and lowly in heart, that I may find rest to my soul; Matthew 11:29(KJV) and that herein the same mind may be in me that was also in Christ Jesus. Philippians 2:5(KJV)

Lord, hide pride from me, Job 33:17(KJV) and clothe me with humility; 1 Peter 5:5(KJV) and put upon me the ornament of a meek and quiet spirit, which in thy sight is of great price. 1 Peter 3:4-5(KJV)

Lord, give me grace to walk worthy of the vocation wherewith I am called, with all lowliness and meekness, with long-suffering, forbearing others in love. Ephesians 4:1-2(KJV)

Let anger never rest in my bosom, Ecclesiastes 7:9(KJV) nor the sun ever go down upon my wrath; Ephesians 4:26(KJV) but enable me to show all meekness towards all men, because I myself also was sometimes foolish and disobedient. Titus 3:2-3(KJV)

Lord, give me to learn from Christ to be gentle and humble in heart, that I may find rest for my soul; Matthew 11:29(NIV) and that herein my attitude should be the same as that of Christ Jesus. Philippians 2:5(NIV)
