Pray for the Grace of Self-Denial and Humility

I must pray for the grace of self-denial.

Lord, give me grace to deny myself, to take up my cross daily, and to follow Christ; Matthew 16:24(NIV) to beat my body and make it my slave. 1 Corinthians 9:27(NIV)

Lord, keep me from being a lover of myself, 2 Timothy 3:2(NIV) from being wise in my own eyes and leaning on my own understanding. Proverbs 3:5-7(NIV)

Lord, grant that I may not seek only my own good, but also the good of others. 1 Corinthians 10:24(NIV)

And grant that I may not live to myself alone or die to myself alone, but whether I live or die, I may belong to the Lord, and live and die to him. Romans 14:7-8(NIV)

I must pray for humility and meekness.

Lord, give me to learn from Christ to be gentle and humble in heart, that I may find rest for my soul; Matthew 11:29(NIV) and that herein my attitude should be the same as that of Christ Jesus. Philippians 2:5(NIV)

Lord, keep pride from me, Job 33:17(NIV) and clothe me with humility; 1 Peter 5:5(NIV) and put upon me the unfading beauty of a gentle and quiet spirit, which is of great worth in your sight. 1 Peter 3:4-5(NIV)

Lord, give me grace to live a life worthy of the calling I have received, being completely humble, gentle, and patient, as I bear with others in love. Ephesians 4:1-2(NIV)

Let anger never reside in my lap, Ecclesiastes 7:9(NIV) nor the sun ever go down while I am still angry; Ephesians 4:26(NIV) but enable me to show true humility toward all men, because I myself also was at one time foolish and disobedient. Titus 3:2-3(NIV)

Let me be clothed as becomes one of God’s chosen people, holy and dearly loved, with compassion, kindness, humility, gentleness, and patience, Colossians 3:12(NIV) that being merciful, just as my Father in heaven is merciful, Luke 6:36(NIV) I may be perfect as he is perfect. Matthew 5:48(NIV)
