Matthew Henry’s “Method For Prayer”

Acknowledge God’s Eternality and Omnipresence

Adoration 1.4 | NASB

Particularly in my adorations I must acknowledge:

That He is an eternal God, immutable, without beginning of days or end of life or change of time.

You are the King eternal, immortal, invisible. 1 Timothy 1:17(NASB)

Before the mountains were born or You gave birth to the earth and the world, even from everlasting to everlasting, You are God; Psalm 90:2(NASB) the same yesterday and today and forever. Hebrews 13:8(NASB)

Of old You founded the earth, and the heavens are the work of Your hands. Even they will perish, but You endure; and all of them will wear out like a garment; like clothing You will change them and they will be changed. But You are the same, and Your years will not come to an end. Psalm 102:25-27(NASB)

You, O God, do not change; therefore is it that I am not consumed. Malachi 3:6(NASB)

Are You not from everlasting, O LORD, my God, my Holy One? Habakkuk 1:12(NASB) The Everlasting God, the LORD, the Creator of the ends of the earth, who does not become weary or tired; Your understanding is inscrutable. Isaiah 40:28(NASB)

That He is present in all places, and there is no place in which He is not included or out of which he is excluded.

You are a God who is near and not a God far off; no man can hide himself in hiding places so that You do not see him, for You fill the heavens and the earth. Jeremiah 23:23-24(NASB)

You are not far from each one of us. Acts 17:27(NASB)

I cannot go anywhere from Your presence or flee from Your Spirit: If I ascend to heaven, You are there; if I make my bed in Sheol, in the depths of the earth, behold, You are there; if I take the wings of the dawn and dwell in the remotest part of the sea, even there Your hand will lead me, and Your right hand will lay hold of me, Psalm 139:7-10(NASB) for I cannot outrun You.
